Wow moment for me...

I was way out on the east side of town at our State Realtor Association, 30 minutes from westside where I live and it is very close to a huge shopping center. I had to meet a guy and he said he couldn't meet me until after lunch....so I went shopping......I wandered by habit through the plus sizes....sometimes I can find something cute on sale in a X or 1X...but I kept looking at the clothes and thought they look sooo long...and so many things have a shirt or cardigan to wear or was short sleeved. {I can't wear short sleeved as one of my arms is much smaller on top, kind of bony even, because of my cancer surgery years ago. They took out all my muscle, but I lived] ANYWAY......I started wandering through misses looking at XL...and finally tried on some and the XL's were too large...and the L had plenty of room. I am tall...so I can't imagine ever wearing anything smaller than a med....so I was amazed. I haven't been on a scale for awhile, but I guess the working out is helping me redistribute it all. I find I don't like baggy clothes anymore. Isn't that wonderful, we are not trying to hide ourselves. I found a cute top, the same color as my eyes and put it on and wore it. I was at a party on Monday evening and there were lots of appetizers and I found myself  drawn to celery carrots and dip......She had these beautiful professionallly done cupcakes with whipped cream frosting and little violets on top.......there was about 12 of us sitting around a huge table on the patio and someone passed a beautiful plate of those cupcakes........I watched it go around and almost to a person...thin ones pased it on...even while talking.....some overweight ones looked longingly at it and passed it, but most of the overweight ones took a cupcake. Everyone was drinking wine so that lowers your normal resistance.but fortunately for me, I wasn't even tempted because my pouch would have hated it. BTW when I got to that guy's office, he took me to introduce me to the President of his company and said .."in case you don't recognize her, she is 2/3's of her former self." [I'm not of course, but it was nice to hear]....He walked me to the lobby and he said as I was leaving "you know I think you got taller when you lost that weight" [he is a big guy about 6'3 and 250] I laughed and said "I have heels on and pulled my pants up a little and showed him my cute black strappy heels ....he just shook his head and said "Lookin' real good"...He wasn't hitting on me, just being a nice man. Isn't WLS GRAND!  Love, Marti

That's great, Marti.....I am beginning to like shopping too, since I am now in 1X plus size AND smaller. Actually had wore a top the other day that someone gave me and it was a 16-18.....quite a come down from 3 and 4 X.

Congrats on looking AND feeling great!

Marti, Congratulations on your WOW moment! Even though I haven't lost that much and haven't had my surgery yet I can relate to the food thing. I used to hate salad, but over the past few months I've found that if I don;t have a salad each day I actually get a craving for it.  Who would've thought! They've taken alot of the tomatoes off in the stores now due to salmonella outbreak so I'm really anxious for my garden to get growing and producing those lovely Romas & big boys.... And my cravings for salty stuff are long gone.   I had a wow moment yesterday too, I saw my neighbor who I haven't seen in a few months she said "wow, you have lost quite a bit of weight! I can tell in your stomach!!!!  Blew me away, usually I hear" I can see you've lost weight , your neck is getting thin. "LOL!! It really felt good!   have a terrific day. Paulette

All you People are heroes in my eyes. You've overcome one of the most difficult things in life. You all deserve to wear your new sizes proud. Enjoy your shopping, I know what a dread it is to shop for the larger, less attractive clothes. When I look in Sunday's newspaper ads, they'll show alot of cute clothes but the plus sizes are usually limited to one page if that. And they usually all have the same theme...cover up. So Uncover Everyone and Enjoy the life you worked so hard for!!! Alice

For me.... The best thing about the WOW moments are.. .. they are unexpected. Going about our daily routine and not thinking about the changes then.. WOW .. what an incentive to keep going. .. .. congratulations ... to all of us... Millie

Wow, Marti, those are wonderful WOW moments and you deserve every one that you have. You are a wonder and I admire you. I am still in a 1x in my tops. I do not think the "girls" are ever going to change. haha I am down to a 8-10 in pants but they are looking big too. In jeans I am in a 16 right now but need 14's think. I still like the streach jeans better. I can't stand waistbands.  Last week I got 2 new tops that had short sleeves. I swore that I wouldn't wear them because of the hanging fat on my arms. Well it got to the point that I was getting to hot to wear the ones with the three quarter sleeves. I put on a 1x and it looked good but you could see the hanging fat to much. The ladies there suggested that I get a 2x. I tried it on and it looked nicer so I bit the bullet and got 2 blouses in a size 2x. I almost said to myself that I was not going back to that size but then I thought that I wanted to be comfortable and if that is what is going to help me be comfortable then so be it. I thought of the positive and a 2x is a lot better than a 4x which is what I was in when I had my surgery! That was a step for me! I know why it is a 2x and that is all that matters. No one else cares so why should I?

that tells what kind of life you have lived.

It's always amazing when we go down sizes that we thought we'd never get in ... when I went down to mediums, I'd look at the pants and think, "I'm never going to fit in those," but then I'd try them on, and they'd fit, and I'd feel so good about starting this journey.  Good for you, and all the nice comments you got. You certainly deserve them, you are looking good.
